Victor, you're simply doing what any machine should do - get the water hot first, put it in contact with the grounds, and then separate the water from the grounds before the coffee gets bitter. Apparently, it's not that easy or they'd all get it right, right?

My coffee making methods are, sad to say, medieval at best. But it works and it is what I have been reduce to. Boil water in tea pot, pour KMO Coffee into a mason jar, pour said water into mason jar, let sit for 5 minutes, pour through small strainer, mmmmmm. I think it is better than any other coffee I make, medieval or not. Now the KMO Coffee is the Kaffe Magnum Opus which is fair trade organic and its the best I've tried yet.

Hopefully, I'll be able to post reviews directly to this blog soon. Meanwhile, there are objective reviews published at www.coffeecompanion.com . Sorry for the confusion, Ron. Yes, that's exactly what I mean CR to be, Consumer Reports, not Coffee Review.

I agree. I've never been impressed with the process or results of Consumer Reports' evaluations of coffee or coffee equipment. Also, the "CR" Kevin refers to throughout his post is Consumer Reports, not Coffee Review... thankfully.

So are you really going to test/review some coffee makers on the basis of contact time at the proper temps? That would be a really informative read. I hope to see it here soon.
